     Livingston Parish is currently using the Harcourt Math series, which consists of a consumable student textbook, practice book and a classroom set of manipulatives. We also integrate literature and writing into our math program. Your child will become fluent in the area of addition and subtraction equations through 18, as well as be exposed to concepts such as patterns, probability, graphing, estimation, money, time, measurement, geometry, fractions, double-digit addition and subtraction, and problem-solving. Because first graders are concrete learners, we use manipulatives and hands on activities to teach and reinforce math concepts.  Some of the manipulatives we use are pattern blocks, unifix cubes, geoboards, rulers, solid shapes, etc...
